The Santa Croce is a must see when you’re in Florence. A beautiful chapel and monument will leave you in awe. The Piazzale Michelangelo is another stop to make. This is where you will get some great views of Florence. At the Giardino di Boboli the gardens will give you the opportunity to stroll and soak up the atmosphere. The Santa Croce is a wonderful gracious chcurch, a place to visit when you’re in Florence. You’ll admire the monuments and the chapel. Spend some time looking at the wonderful statues and scultures in the Churh from many of the great Masters. The high altar and the wonderful stained glass windows you’ll remember for a long time.

The Piazzale Michelangelo is a wide terrace providing a wonderful view of Florence. You’ll definitely want to see it.

Giardino di Boboli

The Giardino di Boboli is so beautiful. You’ll love walking through the gardens looking at the statues and the wonderful trees and plants. It is a haven of peace from the bustle of the major sights and museums in Florence.

San Miniato al Monte

The San Miniato al Monte is another wonderful church to visit. You’ll also get some great views of the city of Florence so bring along your camera. It is facing the city at the top of many steps. The crypt in this church is a special sight and also take in the wonderful mosaics in the church itself especially that of Christ Enthroned.

Santa Maria del Fiore ("Duomo")

The Santa Maria del Fiore ("Duomo") is a place with wonderful architecture. The stunning Campanile is a masterpeach started by Giotti but many others assisted while it was being built. The Dome of the Cathedral is the symbol of Florence and is a wonderful sight. For many this is their favourite cathedral and you’ll find it difficult to say whether you are more impressed by the features inside or the amazing façade of the church.

The Battistero is another great architectural design in the city of Florence. But it is the Gates of Paradise that everyone has to see and admire. Because of the precious nature of the Gates they have been taken indoors for restoration and exact replicas are in place for you to see. They date from 1425 and are truly a wonderful sight. These are the East Doors but make sure you also pay attention to the South and North Doors.

Ponte Veccio

The Ponte Veccio is a beautiful and unique bridge across the Arno river. It has many small shops on it and for hundreds of years has been a centre for goldsmiths and jewellers. You’ll want to stop and see it.

Galleria degli Uffizi

The Galleria degli Uffizi is one of the world’s greatest Galleries. It has many, many wonderful exhibits with an emphasis on the Florentine school, it has paintings by Giotti, Da Vinci, Ghirlandaio, Botticelli and so on. It is a wonderful experience. The Gallery also houses the State Archives with many amazing documents relating to the city.

The San Lorenzo is the oldest church in the city - first consecrated in 393 AD. The outside is bare and impressive. The inside is also quite austere and majestic but look at Donatello’s work inside - the two magnificent bronze pulpits and also the choir. You’ll want to see it. Behind the Church are the stunning Medici Chapels - the cupola in the Chapel of the Princes is just sumptuous.

Museo dell'Opera del Duomo

Make sure you get to see The Museo dell'Opera del Duomo when you are in Florence and spend hours admiring the exhibits in this museum.

David

Yes you have to pay homage to Michelangelo’s most famous work. The original is in the Galleria which has many other great Michelangelo sculptures and those of other well known artists. The David here is the original and you can also see a copy outside the Palazzo Vecchio where the original first was placed.
